All of our approved homes qualify for the MicroFit Program!
Get paid to generate renewable energy at your home or work and sell it to the electrical grid.
How about having the Ontario government put it in writing for twenty years?
Here's how it works: After you click on the Micro Fit Activation Agent and fill out a short form, we will assess your home and roof via Google. If your roof is located in a sunny area with over 200 square feet, an activation agent will be dispatched to physically view and measure your rooftop. These measurements, photos and details are then sent to our graphic arts department in order to calculate and sketch the exact details. After the final calculation is completed, we call to inform you of your qualifications. If you agree with the amount of projected earnings based on and proven by the Canadian Federal Government, we will then bring the MicroFit contract to your home or business for you to sign. At that time we collect a 5% deposit in order to receive building and Ontario Power Authority permits. We can also provide on the spot financing from TD Canada Trust. Our financing terms always include a much lower monthly payment than the payments that you receive from Hydro.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What if the panels are too heavy for my roof?
A: Our panels weigh about 26 pounds each and we install them on racks, which distribute the weight evenly on your roof. The local building inspector as well as the electrical safety authority then re-checks our work.
Q: What happens if I enroll in the MicroFIT program and want to sell my home?
A: The MicroFIT program may be transferred to the next homeowner. Therefore not only did you increase the equity of your home but also it will sell much faster since it has an income attached for 20 years!
Q: Can I earn money on a cloudy day?
A: Yes! Our schedule of income rates are averaged throughout the entire year.
Q: I am planning on building an addition so should I apply for the MicroFIT program now?
A: Yes! If your current roof qualifies then apply now. The process could take up to 3 months!
Q: Is there a warranty on your solar panels?
A: Yes! Our panels are warranted for 25 years!
Q: Is your company licensed and insured?
A: Yes! We are licensed and insured and all our workers are extremely skilled!
Q: I have a very busy schedule. How much work do I have to do?
A: Simply tell us your name and address. That's it, you’re done because we do the rest!
Q: I live in Northern Ontario and we receive large amounts of snow. Do I still qualify for MicroFIT?
A: Yes! In areas with large amounts of snow we install micro inverters on each panel. This produces a higher rate of electric per panel, which feeds into the grid.
Q: Do you lease Solar Panels?
A: No. The OPA has announced terms to limit MicroFit applications to one homeowner.
Q : How much will the application fee and estimate cost?
A: Nothing! The application process to the OPA (Ontario Power Authority) is on us. That's just our way of providing a cleaner environment.
Q : Will my new solar system be insurable?
A: Yes! Insurance companies usually prefer to insure your whole home at affordable rates.
Q : Why has your company nicknamed the MicroFit program the silent tenant?
A: Because in essence you are collecting rent from your roof top and I will guarantee that your new solar PV panels, never drink, smoke or play loud music!
Q : Is the MicroFit program really worth it?
A: Yes! Prices on solar products have decreased dramatically. Now is the time to purchase.
Q : Is not 20 years too long of an investment time?
A: 20 years is the total amount of time that you collect the grant. The actual payoff time for the system is just over 6 years!
Q : What happens to the panels if a tornado hits my home?
A: The exact same thing happens even if you don't have panels.
Q : Can you install on a flat roof?
A: Yes! We apply a rubber coating under the solar racks which are installed using screw/nail less methods.
Q : How much maintenance do I have to do after they are installed?
A: Usually none! Some people wash the panels down with a garden hose once per year others wait for a heavy rain.
Q : How often do the batteries have to be changed with the MicroFit program?
A: Never! The MicroFit program is an on grid service therefore no electricity is ever stored at your building.
Q : After 20 years can I still use the panels?
A: Yes! In the event the MicroFit program is canceled the panels can always be used for off grid service.
Q : What is the difference between off grid and on grid?
A: Off grid means that you supply and store power for your own use at your own home or business. On grid means that you sell it back to the hydro company.
Q : Can I have both on grid and off grid?
A: Yes! We can install both types of systems at the same location. If you have the space we have the panels.
Q : Do I have to have new shingles installed before the panels are installed?
A: That depends on the condition of your roof. However if your roof is older we will install and finance the shingles too!
Q : How much will I have to pay for the installation?
A: That depends on how many Kilowatts of electricity you qualify to produce. However all installations are in direct proportion of each other and when you receive your hydro bill you also receive your revenue's cheque for hydro generation. This means no out of pocket expenses to pay the installation loan. Mathematically speaking the hydro company pays your loan!
Q : Is this considered my own business?
A: Yes! You are now producing electricity and are entitled to such benefits as, loan write off, maintenance fees etc.
Q : How long does the OPA application approval take?
A: It varies in time and has been as long as three months. That's why it is best to file the application in winter months so work can begin in spring.
Q: What happens if the program is ever cancelled?
A: If the program is ever cancelled you still have a written contract directly from the Ontario government for twenty years.
If any program cancellations ever occur it will only affect people that do not have a current contract.
Q : How long does the installation usually take per home?
A : We usually install all panels within two days.
Q : Do you install panels in the winter?
A: Some winters are dry & mild with little snow which allow our employees to work safely. However our first concern is always safety.
Q : What happens if there is a family or financial crisis and I am approved for MicroFit?
A: We understand about unforeseen circumstances. The Ontario government has mandated the approval terms be honored for one full year!
Q: How do I obtain financing?
A: We arrange all financing O.A.C.
